Drop or Withdraw Defined

Academic Drop or Withdraw

Source: Yahoo

The following is in context to Academic, because it's common for a single word to have multiple meanings you will find additional research links near the bottom of the page.

"To officially stop taking one or more classes before the end of the quarter. Do this through the Registration Office, or by Touch-Tone, before the deadline (listed in the Quarterly schedule) to avoid having a grade on your transcript. If this is done prior to the 15th academic day, the class record will disappear. If this is done after that point, a W or withdraw will remain on your transcript, which indicates neither passing nor non-passing work at the time of withdrawal. All withdrawals must be completed by the last published date to officially withdraw. In addition, equivalent dates will be listed in the Quarterly Class Schedule for summer."
